For those backing directly onto the River Crane, what are the best aspects of being on the river? What are the worst parts? Anything to watch out for? Going through a purchase on Haliburton at the moment and love the idea of being on the water and the large gardens but curious of other's experiences. Thank you!
We're in exactly the same boat you were a few years ago, about to move to the area and looking to understand the flood risk situation better.
We'd really appreciate it if you might be able to share what others told you at the time, and what you've experienced over the past four or five years?
Many thanks, George
A few years ago, Martyn Day wrote this - s might be worth a read.
Thanks Peter. I had stumbled across that and have been in touch with Martyn re: the NSMRA. Spoken now with a handful of very friendly neighbours on the street and the consensus seems very much River Crane = good.

With the recent expansion of public access charge point networks in St Margarets I want to understand the degree to which access to charge points remains a barrier to EV adoption, especially amongst those without access to off street parking. The following questionnaire also aims to understand whether or not recent EV charge point network development in St Margarets is having a positive influence on people's consideration to switch to Electric Vehicles.
The survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete and is available online at
Come and support our new arts venue The Twickenham Exchange opposite Twickenham rail station this Nov 23 - as The London Jazz Festival comes to town.
As I live locally in the area, I'm ecstatic to be there performing and supporting this new venue, with 2 fantastic special guests.
Here's a link for people who would like to come along, or help spread the word.
Looking forward to meeting people there😊 e
So many great things happening at The Exchange including a Literary Festival right now.

Hi there. Does your child need a boost of confidence after their GCSE mocks? Are they worried about C3 and C4 exams in the summer? Are you thinking ahead to next year's 11+?
I have an Oxford Maths degree, a PGCE, 20 years teaching experience, an enhanced CRB and two young children of my own. I live in Isleworth and am happy to offer tuition on an ad hoc basis.
In my experience an hour is a long time to concentrate for, so I offer 45 minute sessions for £40 (or an hour for £50 if you feel you want it).
Feel free to contact me at email@example.com and I'll see what I can do to help.
I was fondly recalling, when I lived in St. Margaret's and belonged to a 'Pathfinders' Judo club, run by St Stephen's Church in the 1960's. It was great fun and the members, boys and girls, all got on well together and enjoyed our bouts. I would love to hear from anybody who belonged, or can remember anything about it. Thanks.
Does anybody know the owner of the black BMW Z4 LV53VVZ left parked in Cassilis Road for more than 2 months?
I guess they have gone abroad or something and and thought they had left it somewhere safe.
Unfortunately during this time the council has agreed and implemented a CPZ, which came in to full force last week. The car is accumulating fines at the rate of one per day. Please let the owner know.
I don't know if anyone else gets as infuriated as I do by the plethora of "Success", "Let by", "Sold" etc signs that local estate agents infest our streets with. They seem to see them as free advertising, and as a result our streets have become a battleground for them to tout for customers.
It may be of interest to learn that by law, they are only allowed to leave these up for 14 days following the completion of a sale or letting. This is stipulated by clause 3A (3) of the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 1992, which states: "The advertisement shall be removed within 14 days after the completion of a sale or the grant of a tenancy".
If you find that your street, like mine, has become dominated by these signs, you can simply email the offending estate agent(s) & ask them to remove the sign, quoting the above clause. It doesn't matter whether the sign is on your property or not. You can also contact (or threaten to contact) the Planning Enforcement Officer at Richmond Council, or the Office of the Ombudmsan for Estate Agents if you so wish.
Give it a go! Tell your friends! It would be nice for our community to become villagey again, don't you think?
I live in a small block of six flats in St Margarets. Twice in the last year Dexters and Yourmove have nailed 'Success' notices to our front garden gate when there have been no flats for sale at all! When I rang them to complain they just say their driver has made a mistake. Very fishy.

Can someone help me? About 50 years ago I worked in a radio repair shop which - I think - was quite near to St. Margaret's Railway Station, and which had a name something like Sansom & Capps. I can't find anything on Google, so could someone confirm or correct my memory? Many Thanks.
Sansom and Capps were at 120 St Margarets Road (opposite the station). In the 1940 Kelly's Directory they were listed as 'Electrical Engineers and Post Office'.
Has anyone been to Rock & Fairy and if so would you recommend them?
My 12 year old son, with long long hair, will only go there. They are excellent with him and he is very happy.
