Comment on forums

I've put on a new post, following up a post I put on several months ago. I posted my post as a 'reply' because I wanted to link it to the previous post (and responses I've had to that). But this means that it appears way down the page - you have to scroll a while to get there. I doubt anyone will see it.

In most forums, a reply to a subject moves it to the top of the page. I think it would be a good idea if you did that.

I agree with you, of course I designed the database wrong to do this easily, so it will take some work to change... but I am working on it.

Conservatory Companies

Does anybody have any expereince of companies that build conservatories in the area. I have looked at Cornhill and Anglian but both seem to have attracted negative reports. Thanks

We seem to be attracting a lot of spam in these forums...

I apologise until I find a way to protect the forums better.

Re: Offensive material

I am trying to keep up with it... but the spammers have found it out obviously.

Server move

We moved servers about two weeks ago.

Apparently the forums have been down all that time, sorry for that.

Please email me at if you see any more problems.

Friendly Neighbours (maybe)

I thought I lived in a nice area, when I moved to St Margarets over a year ago.

Unfortunately on Wednesday night I parked my blue vespa in Beaconsfield road as usual. I returned to my Vespa last night to discover that it had been knocked over and the very nice person who had done this had picked it up. They have damaged the right side and not even bothered to leave any details. I know which car was parked in front of me and I hope is was not you. If anyone saw this accident please get in contact with me

thx Ian

Lots of smelling mishtakes!

1) quickly run it through a spellchecker! "passowrld" ... and several others.

I can tell you've been working on this far too late at night!

2) No link to enter my email address and recover forgotten password (can't for the life of me remember what it was or which email address I used) so I registered again.

Re: Lots of smelling mishtakes!

I am a poor speller at the best of times (minor dyslexia) so thanks for pointing this out. If anyone sees more, please let me know.

I will work on a password lookup screen, but in the meantime, just email me ( and I can do it for you.

About the New Forums

I never really liked the old forums.

  • Usage was never very high compared to the article comments.
  • Because it was a common bit of software (YABB) I constantly had a lot of spammers trying to get in
  • The topics and lists where too rigid.

So I have written something of my own that is far less structured. I have attempted to migrate all the user accounts, but if you had a wonky username or email address, I probably left you out and you will have to re-register.

Let me know what you think.

Re: About the New Forums

Oh, there are two things I forgot to mention:

  1. you should click 'reply' to respond to a specific message or else it might get time sorted away from the original comment...
  2. there are pages for when the message list get's long... it is going to be a work in progress to see what works best for how many on a page.
