The Retro Chet Trio - Back at the Bull- Sunday November 11 From 2.30 pm Clive Brown (double bass) and Geoff Varrall (trumpet) from the Retro Chet Quartet join forces with Alfie Carroll on guitar to recreate some of the great trio recordings of Baker's later years. including the June 1979 recording Touch of Your Lips and the follow up live album Some Day My Prince Will Come recorded in Copenhagen originally featuring Doug Raney on guitar and Niels-Henning Orsted Pederson on bass. Clive and Alfie then reinvent themselves as Philip Catherine (guitar) and Jean Louis Rassinfosse (electric contra bass) to revisit the September 1983 recording of the Chet Baker Trio (Strollin' by Horace Silver and the beautiful Estate by Bruno Martino), and the follow up, Chet's Choice, recorded in 1985.
The Raccateers, Chris Firmin, James Werner, Lloyd Jonas, Mark Albrow & Marie Herbert, are delighted to be returning to The Bull's Head with some new songs and fresh takes on old favourites. They are planning a set that will take in the Gershwins, Keith Jarrett and one or two originals that they hope will make you smile.
