St Mary's University College has a long and distinguished history as a Catholic college for the education of teachers.
It was founded in 1850 by the Catholic Poor Schools Committee to meet the need for teachers to provide an education for the growing numbers of poor Catholic children.
The mission of St Mary's is to provide high-quality academic and professional higher education within a collegial ethos inspired and sustained by Christian values. Our primary mission is in teaching and learning, underpinned and enriched by research and scholarship.
The transformative nature of our work contributes to the creation of new knowledge and inspires our outreach activities in support of social cohesion and economic development.
