Hounslow Symphony Orchestra

We aim to be the friendliest orchestra in London

Hounslow Symphony Orchestra is an amateur orchestra of around 55 players. We play three concerts each season, usually at St Mary's Church, Osterley Road, Isleworth TW7 4PW and St Paul's Church, 56 Grove Park Road, Chiswick, W4 3SB. We concentrate on the standard classical and romantic repertoire and from time to time perform contemporary works.

The orchestra fulfils an important dual function in that it benefits its members by enabling them to pursue a passion, and in the wider context it is a means by which the playing of and listening to serious classical music is extended out of the professional arena and into the community.

Keith Merrill - London Vocal Studios

In this precarious moment, we are all feeling isolated, disempowered, frustrated.

A St Margarets resident, I am a Guildhall and Royal Academy of Music trained singer and I teach the original Italian school of singing. The famous Bel Canto. And let me tell you, these days, it's better than therapy.

We all want to scream at the top of our lungs at what's happening around us - but we also don't want our neighbours to phone the police. So, the healthy alternative? Vocalise. Express. Learn to use your voice and empower yourself. Try a lesson (I can work with your budget in these trying times - just ask). No judgment. It's for you. Your time. Your own personal form of expressing your fears, your frustrations - and cheaper than a therapist. So empower yourself. SING!

Kew Sinfonia

Kew Sinfonia was founded over twenty-five years ago by a group of local music-lovers, prominent among them Antony and Marie-José Sadler, who felt that Kew should have its own orchestra. They approached Joseph Vandernoot, a well-known London conductor, and he responded with enthusiasm. The inaugural concert under his direction was given in December 1986. Since then the orchestra has given three or four concerts a year and has attracted a loyal and enthusiastic audience.

Sing-a-song Music Classes

At Sing-a-song we learn about music through singing.

The voice is the instrument that we all have, it comes directly from the heart and if you are looking for a way to develop musical ability then here is the place to start!

This educational philosophy was developed by Hungarian Zoltán Kodály. In a Kodály class the children enjoy singing and playing musical games which are later used to introduce the elements of music.

When the children are aware of these elements in the songs they sing they can use them to compose and improvise their own music. If a child understands how these elements work he/she will use them more effectively when learning a musical instrument.

Above all things, we enjoy making music together!
