A Kick Up The Arts is an assortment of observations and musings on the art world with a bias to the area around London. We will give you an insiders look in to the art world with postings on the latest exhibitions, upcoming events and what to see. We will also look closely at the art market with a look at current trends, the auction market and opinions and insights on how best to invest in art.
ARThouse Open Studios Festival
Usually in June, the ARThouse Open Studios Festival celebrates local artists who open their homes and studios to share their art.
The range of artwork created in the borough is fantastic, with art forms including paintings, prints, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, textiles, photography and more. Many of the venues are clustered together within easy walking or cycling distance of one another, so it's a simple way to spend an enjoyable afternoon discovering your local artists and learning about the borough.
Arts Richmond
Arts Richmond, established in 1966, is an independent charity supporting the arts and culture in and around the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames.
Cygnets Art School Twickenham
Cygnets is a children's art school that focuses on teaching traditional skills such as painting, drawing, and sculpture, using a step-by-step-approach that combines unique projects with experienced teachers and professional quality materials.
Eel Pie Island Artists
Eel Pie Island, nestled in a bend of the Thames at Twickenham, has long been renowned for its historical association with musical talent - visiting rock stars during the 60's & 70's included the Rolling Stones, David Bowie & The Who. However, it is now know for its diverse artistic community, including award-winners and those who exhibit at national and international level.
On open days throughout the year, visitors can explore the fascinating array of welcoming studios tucked in and around the working boatyards of Eel Pie Island.
Landmark Arts Centre
The Landmark Arts Centre, a registered charity, is a distinctive venue for the whole community. Our vibrant range of activities is growing and we have something to engage and entertain several times a week, most weeks of the year. And we do all this in a magnificent 19th century Grade II* listed building which we preserve for the benefit of the whole community.
Our lively programme of events ranging from concerts by nationally known performers to a rich mix of other local arts and educational projects which make a visit to the Landmark something to remember. The Landmark with its large main hall and soaring roof space makes an ideal venue for Fairs. We are especially proud of these events which regular attract both exhibitors and visitors from all around the UK.
One Paved Court
One Paved Court is an artist-run space in the heart of Richmond, South West London. Our restored Georgian building contains architect designed art gallery and studio space under the same roof.
Poetry Performance
Poetry Performance is an 'open mic' venue for amateur performers and professionals who like to perform their own authored poems.
Redlees Studios
We are a diverse group of artists formed to organise and promote the collective and individual work of the residents of Redlees Studios. Our members work ranges from Jewellery to Glass, Ceramics, Painting, Sculpture and Mixed Media.
The studios based at Redlees Park, housed within a former Victorian block, and the studios based within Isleworth Public Hall, are both owned by the London Borough of Hounslow and managed by Community Initiative Partnerships (CIP) the Cultural, Regeneration and Leisure trust for the borough.
Richmond Film Society
Richmond Film Society has been existence for nearly 50 years and has an annual programme of 15 films.
Richmond upon Thames Literature Festival
Richmond upon Thames Literature Festival is the much loved annual literary festival for Richmond upon Thames returns each November. There is a varied and lively selection of events from which to pick and choose.Significant political leaders, biographers, stars of stage and screen, pre-eminent literary figures, artists, poets and some newer voices all comprise a diverse and enthralling array of literary delights to enjoy.

The Bowman Gallery and Conservation Studio
David Bowman of The Bowman Gallery, Richmond has over 40 years of experience in the art trade and specializes in presentation of fine art, conservation, restoration, bespoke framing, and gilding.
Here at the gallery we mount regular, themed exhibitions featuring both period and contemporary artwork.
Our gallery space can be hired by artists wishing to exhibit thier work(subject to contract and availability).

The Exchange
The Exchange is a newly built venue owned by Richmond Council and leased to St Mary's University under an agreement that the building will be used for a mixture of University use, Community Group use and public events. The building has a 300 seat theatre, 5 studio rooms, a cafe and a bar. It is the building directly opposite the entrance to Twickenham station.
Twickenham Cinema Club
We are a local cinema club run by members for members, showing a mix of unseen classics, cult films and recent unseen gems, on the big screen.
Watermans
Watermans is an arts centre by the Thames in Brentford, West London.
