They offer adult audiences an exciting and fun range of lectures, talks and workshops. From one day sessions to longer courses, you can develop practical skills and extend your art knowledge throughout the year.
Creative Writing: The Art of Words
Explore and develop your creative writing skills using the Richmond Borough’s painting collections, as well as the Capability Brown and Art and Soul exhibitions at Orleans House Gallery as inspiration for your writing.
Participants will explore their ideas and respond to the art work through poetry and prose. Suitable for beginners as well as advanced level.

Art History Lectures
Each lecture is a self-contained exploration of a particular period and so can be enjoyed as a standalone session or as part of the series.

Art Concepts
In this three week exploration of Art Concepts we’ll begin with the main Art Historical periods; the Renaissance, the Baroque, Rococo, Neo-Classicism, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism, Expressionism, Cubism and Abstract Art, before moving on to Genres and Subjects in Art and then exploring artistic techniques.

Women in Art
Women have always been involved with making art, despite the fact that they are grossly underrepresented in museums and galleries worldwide. This course will introduce women artists from the Middle Ages to the present, discuss some of the misconceptions about their art, and explore if women in art can be a platform for discussing women’s issues.

Painting Classes: Painting with Acrylics
Enjoy learning ways to paint with acrylics in this five-session block with the return of tutor Anna Saunders. Explore ways to build up colour, contrast, texture and tone in your own painting which will progress from week to week.
No arts knowledge is necessary, and materials are included in the price.
